Surreal day on the job...more of the same on the way.

I find the christian paranoia to be completely in line with the belief in christian persecution. They must see destitute heathens everywhere.
I don't have an anger problem, I have an idiot problem.

What arewethereyet found strange was how little faith these holy people had in God and that he would protect them by having such extensive security. It's like going on a lake to walk on water but also bringing with you scuba gear just in case there is no God.

God helps those who help themselves.

But then, there are those aggressive preachers on TV who insist  god needs money. I even read of one who told his flock he needs a private jet.

Mum had a dear friend, a Christian Scientist, who deeply believed God will provide;  She did not believe in doctors. The dear friend developed cancer and died.

Being a believer doesn't necessarily mean the person is a complete idiot. The examples we get her are atypical of believers I've known, and still know. Most of 'em are just like real people, as long as you don't talk about god.   Cool

Simply - about all the safety stuff. This is a church in a low crime area. I have searched online looking for violent incidents and can't find a history of anything. I do understand the weather and fire issues, that's pretty standard.

What was really odd to me was how many times it was repeated that no matter what you see/hear or think you see/hear...you are not to call 911...period, end of story. You are to call an internal number and report the problem if they deem it necessary. So, if you walk past a room that full of flames - not totally unthinkable since there's a big industrial kitchen - you are not to call 911.

Why would that be a rule?

Yes, due to the fact that you aren't supposed to contact 911 under circumstances where you would call 911 at any other time it makes me wonder what they are so paranoid about and what they think has to be covered up.

There are other things too...most of which have little to do with religion or my atheism. But thanks to all the Christians who thought they needed to jump in.

Ok I'll read your OP soon, but ...

WTF?

Get out of there asap. Fuck the money. If I'm understanding the situation right.

They don't want you calling 911 in case the police show up and find the money laundering set up they have.

And yes, you're evolved fish immediately makes you a potential threat. Milk tgem for everything you can - legally.

So what's the issue? Just working in a church? lol I don't really mind churches, though I don't know if I'd want to be stuck in a church basement for three months either - sounds like a bad horror movie.
If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.

Being advised to not call 911 reminds me of when I was trained as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America. We were told to call the local Scout Council Executive when we encountered a molestation complaint. I never heard of a complaint, but if I had, the police would be the first place I'd go. Even they cover up complaints.

I finished an assignment at a law firm last week and went out on a new assignment today.  Well, this is going to be interesting.  Not counting the fact the commute is awful there are some other...shall we say - issues.

It's at a rather large Baptist church.  It's in an area that serves very wealthy people...like people who own their own planes and have regular appointments with their plastic surgeons.  This church has been around since the 50s and has been built onto and from what I can tell - takes in a shit ton of money.

So, yeah... the accounting office is in the basement of the original part of the church with the sanctuary above.  I spent over 90 minutes with the safety guy who went over everything from stranger danger to tornados to bomb threats to active shooter protocol.  There are nearly 170 cameras - monitored - on the grounds, inside and out.  God must be slacking if they need all that - I wonder if the evolve fish on my back window is now part of some secret threat file.

Looking at three months possibly on this gig.

So what the problem is?

Do you mean to say your hate for christians is like that of whites who hated blackpeople back at the beginning of the 20th centry? are you so disgusted by christians that you can't do your job?

Or is your understanding of god so limited that the protocols and cameras to you are evidences of no God?

Did you not know on Jesus' last moments as a free man he wanted to goto the garden of gethsemane to pray, and he knew he would be confronted or maybe killed along the way. so he told his disciples to arm themselves. Jesus had it with in him to single handedly disarm all of them, and he infact did so with a single word that dropped the gaurds to their knees. Despite this his disciples did infact bring swords/mechanical means to defend themselves. Why? because not every situation needs the supernatural intervention of God. meaning if we have it with in our ablity to watch with cameras then we are to watch with cameras.

or do you simply not like the accountability the camera put on you?
Fuck you.

Just fuck you, you asshole.

Am I the only one who interpreted their warning as "if you see a dead body or someone being tortured or whatever, you do not call 911, talk to us instead"?
