Home Elevator

RE: Home Elevator
I recently put my signature of approval on the latest shop drawings of my home elevator and sent them to the company office. My unit is now in the queue at the factory and should be finished and ready for shipping in a couple of weeks.  Great

With a little luck, installation will take place shortly after Labor Day.

Pneumatic?

That surprises me.

Straight gearing or cables would be much more economical. What's the advantage?

My home's central stairwell is too narrow for a conventional elevator. This pneumatic model is a bit more expensive than a conventional unit, but it's the right diameter for the stairwell, does not require a machine room, or a pit to be dug in the cellar floor.

The tube is made from a high impact Plexiglas.

From experience - use ONLY microfiber towels for cleaning it. Anything else will scratch it.

I built my hunthing blind in 2006 - with plexiglass windows. I have a fogging problem on cold mornings - requiring repeated wiping. I knew most cloth will scratch plexi.

I finally replaced the windows this year - as the UV in s unlight causes plexi to get brittle. But, the optical quality was still good - as I used only clean microfibre towels.

My carpenter has been working here for the past couple of days. He's presently flooring over the top of the central stairway and installing the framework for the vestibule in the attic. He's also installing temporary beams which will be used to hoist the sections of the elevator shaft into place. The project is moving forward on schedule.

RE: Home Elevator
Just about all of the preliminary carpentry work has been completed. I still have no word of an installation date. My carpenter is here today and he's removing a section of the cellar floor to pour a level concrete pad for the elevator tube.
