seriously why do people bother with this pointless ritual they've concocted for themselves?

whats the point in ironing cloths?

There is an irony to ironing, isn't there.

I don't think you need to do that if you are single like me and don't go out much. But if you are going for a job interview or trying to get into a college or an internship, it really does not matter what one might think themselves, people are going to look at your appearance. I don't iron or even fold my cloths, but I do wash them. But again, I am also 52, retired and single.
I don't own anything that needs ironing.
Between us, the missus and I have a few articles that should be ironed, and look better when they do. Fortunately, they can also be dry-cleaned, so we have them pressed. We don't own an iron.

One of my great-grandmothers had her occupation listed as "linen ironer". She ironed sheets all day long. Kept food on the table I guess. And didn't slow her down much, she had seven kids.

Think of all those poor iron workers who are losing their jobs.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.
You iron clothes to get the wrinkles out. That is the point of ironing clothes.
