Has fallen back into religion. And by fall, I mean did a complete 180 and has gone fundie.

I hate seeing religion take advantage of vulnerable people who have mental health issues that only health professionals can help. Religion only makes mental health issues worse.

RELATEABLE. This is what I feared. The day my close friend crawls back to religion, but even more than that, is his deteriorating mental and physical health! If you aren't separated by geographical distance, please be there for your friend. Before it's too late. Religion cannot do any more than you can. If you can lend him better ears and company, he'll probably snap out of it.

My friend's controlling mother has been throwing a fit because he hasn't been diligently attending religious gatherings like he used to. And that's been taking a toll on him. I wish there was more I could do to relieve his stress but we live 9K miles away from each other and lately he would just mysteriously disappear for days. I've been encouraging him to see a therapist but he kept procrastinating his appointment. I don't understand why at his age, he doesn't just move out already. No actually that would indeed be difficult for someone who had been a puppet for years, stripped of his independent thinking and desires. He's not used to challenging her demands and now doesn't know how to cope with the consequences. Granted he's still holding on but at this rate he might revert back to his upbringing. ..It's just messed up.
