Sure, I would rather be remembered as a bum than, let's say, a billionaire. But I am not worthy to be a bum because I am not charming (enough) for strangers to give me free food and shelter. If I were broke, I would die of starvation, unlike this guy who got a whole house in a nice part of SF to live in for free for years, along with free food, a computer, and other stuff. Being a bum means that you are nice and that people love you.
