All I can really say about this is: What the fuck? 

This woman was shot, her unborn baby died -- and she's the one being charged with manslaughter?  Oh, and it's of course NO surprise that the woman is black.  I hope she sues the police department, and then owns everything they've ever owned and ever will own for the rest of their lives.  But even that wouldn't be enough for the outright fuckery that's going on here.

Because somebody had to be? Granted, I don't know why they aren't both in jail. It sounds weird, and desperately needs some elaboration. I would think, if they just wanted to stick it to the blackie, they could get a twofer by nailing her husband. This is likely related to the new law they're passing/have passed, where women can get penalized for abortions, but getting yourself shot in order to abort is a bit extreme.

You know, the sad thing is that, apart from the more obvious Gerri Santoro-looking drawbacks, I strongly suspect that shit like this may very well be an inevitable result of such strict abortion laws. While looking up the current status of human rights in El Salvador earlier today for a sock, I saw this:

Why wouldn't the person who shot her point blank in the stomach be held responsible for the unborn baby's death?
