Well that was some fast back-tracking by Facebook
I know. I know, I know. I went too far. I should have just reported the facts and got my stupid ass out of there. I forget just what a different world I live in now to most people. I wonder if I should do a whole post explaining my journey.

Anyhow. If you were late to my Facebook thread, you are probably now confused, since the quote I made doesn’t actually appear on their community page that I linked to. They’ve deleted the exceptions which allowed incitement of violence against certain parties.

I can only assume that they thought they could slip it in and no one would notice. Well, plenty of people noticed and there was outrage. I contacted Facebook myself asking how their community guidelines allowed illegal actions on their site. Hopefully at least some of you saw it on the page before they swiped it away. I’m really glad to see that they can’t get away with this crap. There’s still enough good guys out there.

Edit: Luckily some people did take screen caps. Check 0:34 on this video.

Whether or not Facebook explicitly makes exceptions to their rules against incitement, they’re pretty much guaranteed to enforce them selectively.

Elsewhere in the series, the documentarian points out how, as reprehensible as the people who end up on the chopping block can be, the consequences can be alarmingly out of proportion to the offense. The recent episode on Payment Processors deals with this issue at length, and he even goes out of his way to point out that, as horrible as many of the people used as examples are, that doesn’t necessarily mean the consequences are justified.

"But refugees are rapists lol," a fan of his, probably.

Not even going to venture into the refugee situation in Europe, though. I've never known less about something.

Rob! You're back!

Who gives a fuck what got deleted on Facebook? Fuck Facebook. Fuck Twitter. And fuck all the people who post shallow memes that pretend to make a point but whose real purpose is to divide human being from human being. It's a shit show where morons make each other angry and afraid. Fuck it. Change the channel.

Come hang out with DLJ and me here in the philosophy forum. Tell me how wrong I am about ethics. Some may say that's a waste of time, but it's not as much of a waste of time as taking anything related to social media seriously.

I was happy to see you post here again. I missed you.
