His point isn't to "rub someone the wrong way" as to oppress them, or demean them.

I see him the same way I did do as if I had a friend who tried to claim the New England Patriots beat Coco(female pro tennis player) in the NHL (pro hockey) Stanley Cup. I am sure he loves most humans, but he describes it best when he realized religion was bullshit when his brother questioned his mother about his bible study when he was a kid.

Well, if you don't find Gervais funny, that's your opinion. I think he's hilarious, as do millions of other people. To each their own, though. Also, like FAF said, what views are you talking about and how are you so sure that these weren't jokes?

George Carlin was... funny, but not hilarious. He had some great monologues. Never really found him all that funny though.
