One follows me around the house wherever I go, sitting on the side of the bath when I have a good soak, or sleeping on a towel when I’m in the shower.

He also meows like a lost soul from one end if the house if I leave him and he doesn’t immediately follow.

One is currently playing a game of “let’s see how many times she’ll open the door for me before she gets pissed off”  (they have two cat doors).

Your cats seems emotionally troubled.     Angel

The one playing games with the door may be getting revenge. She’s grey and white and fluffy, but spent time at the vet a couple of weeks ago and had some teeth removed and was also shaved sides and belly.

Now she looks like she had a close encounter with a lawnmower.

Fucking cat doors.
My cat thinks it's a reset button.
If she meows her head off and I refuse to fed her, she scratches on the front door to be let out (this does my head in), races around the house, back through the cat flap and immediately resumes begging.

I used to check in on an elderly neighbor who had both. The dog was big, slobbering, lummox of a Lab mix that barked his ass off every time he heard so much a leaf fall outside, and I'm pretty sure
Don-O weighed nearly as much as me as evidenced by the way he nearly knocked me on my ass every time I came in the door.

But, oh that cat...That fucker KNEW I couldn't stand her, and made it a point strut onto my lap with her talons and plop her fat ass on my lap. She would stare at me as if to say "Now, stroke me."
"No way. I'm not stroking you Cat. Now get off of my lap. Please. "
Then she would just continuously walk across my lap, back and forth, digging her claws into my thighs like a pure asshole.

Oh, yes. My neighbor was in total denial about her precious Bootsie.
"Oh, Bootsie doesn't climb on tables or counters. She's a very good cat! Extremely well-behaved."
Lol...Yeah, right. Every time I saw Bootsie enter the kitchen, she made a beeline for the counter-top dish drainer and sat her stinky cat-butt right in it.
Disgusting.

Invariably, my neighbor would ask "Would you like something to drink, honey? Meat loaf? A piece of cake?

Um...FUCK NO. Lol

You know that cats do this on purpose, right?

If a cat will be social at all it will single out the one visitor who hates, or is allergic to, cats and make sure to target them with more attention and affection than they will even give their owner.  It's part of their 'charm'.   Hilarious

I have had my cat for six years now and he has finally stopped running to hide under the bed any time a non-resident enters the house.  But any petting is strictly on his terms...even by me.  Oddly, he will let me brush him for a long time while rolling from side to side so I don't miss anywhere.  He's not a touchy-feely sort.  He is quite verbal though.

My older male dog loves absolutely everyone and is delighted when people show up.  The younger male is more skittish but is coming around more and more.

My female dog finally approaches my daughter for attention (Karm is almost 8 and deaf as a stone - the dog, not the daughter).  She has worked her way up to some 'affection' with my son's girlfriend.  Samantha can pet her for a second or two...on the way out the door.

They are all quirky.

If I lived somewhere without a yard, I would be okay with a cat but dogs are definitely my favorite.

RE: Dogs or cats?
Our new acquisition, the Prince Charles Cavalier Spaniel mix, finally managed to go out the dog door without coaxing or someone holding the flap part way open. I figured hydraulic pressure would force her out when nobody was home for a long stretch. The wife and I went to the Grand Canyon on Wednesday and got back today. No pics for you, there are better ones to see on line. Spectacular, with vertiginous views everywhere.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
