Special Relativity. Lifetime.

RE: Special Relativity. Lifetime.
"Some people claim that they have experienced out-of-body experiences aka "astral trips" floating outside of their bodies and watching themselves from the outside. A team of scientists found someone who says she can do this at will and put her into a brain scanner. What they discovered was surprisingly strange".

Notice how everything you just linked was happening in a brain, in this dimension? Those aren't extra dimensional images........
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yes I know that. But the experience has an alternative dimension to it.
Whether it is a real physical place or created from our subconscious is not what I'm saying.

There is another world that we can access through our minds. That is what is real.
And perhaps developing that ability could be of benefit to mankind.

Does it? Why can't experience happen in this dimension?

Is there "another world" that we can access with our minds...sure...but is that world outside of this world,.. or merely within it but different to it? I can say with conviction that developing the ability to imagine other worlds has benefits..but those benefits don't seem to depend on there being some "other world".... in any other sense than a term of art.

The things that we can imagine are not made lesser on account of our inability to imagine worlds into existence by brute force of conceiving of them, right? Lets be clear. You have been saying that these other worlds are a physical place distinct from this one. That's simply not true, and it's what you're getting pushback for.

You understand that this notion is ridiculous, right...that's why you're distancing yourself from it now, yes?

Did you miss this?

Quote:It is real in the sense that she's actually experiencing it. The brain scans show that she's going through what she's claiming. But that doesn't mean that her "soul" is getting out of her body. This is not an astral trip, like those described by mystics. There's no paranormal activity of any kind.

From the same study.
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.

I'm sorry Athene. It was rude of me.
It's something kept personal and difficult to talk about.
I will continue.

The memory from when young was sitting down playing in the grass when a younger little girl walked up to me and stared at me. When I looked at her she said something to me. I did not understand the words she said (it was not English) but I knew it was a question.

I was quite shocked and didn't say anything back. I just didn't understand. Then she held out her hand offering me a bun (was the shape of a hotdog bun). I took it and had a bite.

When I swallowed I felt it go through my whole body like every particle of me became excited. As I lifted my mouth for another bite the piece I had eaten was returning to the bun so I couldn't finish it. I had more bites with massive rushes each time and gave it back. We shared it having turns eating it.

The rushes I felt could be felt again while growing up by thinking of that event. A feeling attached to that memory. I can still feel it.

I said things got strange after talking to people. That started when sitting under a tree in this forest place and hearing crashing in the bushes coming towards me. I jumped up and looked to see what it was. I then saw the only familiar face I've seen there. A good friend of mine smiling making his way towards me. He had died couple of years earlier.

We talked for a long time and I eventually asked him "Do you know?" meaning if he knew he is dead. He said "Yeah I know. But I am happy".

Before I left back to reality I asked how can I know if this is real. He thought for a moment and said one word "Adele" (that's how I feel its spelt). Hasn't made much sense to me.

After that was when I saw an old woman sitting in the trees so I went up to her and said hello.

She looked surprised and said something to me in a couple of words I didn't understand. Not English. Got the first word "Arash" (that's how I feel its spelt) and didn't catch the second part. I had the feeling it was asking about me. And I said what? then a thought came to me and I said "Shaman?". She then smiled and I said "I don't think so" not in a doubting way but as a way of saying no I'm not. Then I quickly turned away and left.

What happened next was I got attacked.
Do you want to hear about it?

No. I didn't miss that.

Yes.
Because of my belief.
These experiences did change me from having absolutely no opinion, to skeptic, to believer in God.

Sure, experiences can change a person. I doubt that anyone would object to that. There's really no end to the amount of true and untrue things people believe based on a genuine experience.

Our experiential apparatus wasn't designed to find truth. It was designed to find dinner. True things have a tangential relationship to dinner, but not a necessary one. How was it, in this experience, that you know the mind, intent, and meaning of the Other? An author knows the mind of their characters, and I'm guessing that you're not a telepath, right?

It's also important not to forget that, even though something is an experience, what it is an experience of is the core question.

If I take an hallucinogenic drug and *see* a group of cockroaches in white tie and tails doing a buck and wing while singing 'Pinball Wizard', what I'm experiencing is the effect of the drug, not singing, dancing, well-dressed insects.  Similarly, while meditation can produce an out-of-body sensation, what is being experienced is a sensation brought on by an altered state of consciousness, it is not an experience of the *self* leaving the physical body.

This is not a slam against meditative practices, by the way.  It is a caution against over-interpreting what occurs during a meditative state.
