While I do respect those that served -

I have been quite vocal about the fact that the US Constitution does provide for a standing NAVY -a defensive force - it does NOT provide for a standing ARMY.

It allows Congress to raise funding and form an army - but only for a period of two years. Build an army - fight for two years and go home.

A great idea - designed to keep us out of the affairs of other countries - and prevent endless wars.

An idea the "powers that be" have chosen to firmly ignore...

How about we prioritize reducing the ridiculous percentage of our taxes that is used to outspend all of our military rivals combined and propping up corporations with subsidies over reducing the relatively modest amount we spend on welfare? I mean, why would it mean so much to someone to cut social services in particular? The libertarians should be on board with that, but it hardly matters if they are when the Republicans are not and so many libertarians vote Republican.

Of course it's political. The nature of politics is political. It's kinda tautological. I think the word you're looking for is "partisan." And, honestly, at this point, EVERYTHING in politics is partisan, up to and including the motherfucking rule of law. Honestly, at this point, the issue is whether or not the President of the United States should be above the law. The Dems were the ones who did all the votes against Trump, but they were doing all the heavy lifting in the impeachment inquiry, and the Republicans did nothing but stonewall everything.

It doesn't matter which side did what. An objective inquiry looks at facts and evidence - those kinds of things. Obviously that isn't what happened here. Each side blames and accuses the other.
