Perhaps just lying in bed and arguing with your mind to actually relax your body (bit by bit) can be of assistance. Works more often than not for me...especially when Valerian, chamomile, sex, alcohol and the others have failed night after night.
Just an idea.

I get to sleep by trying not to go to sleep. I'm on sleeping pills because my sleep is disturbed - I keep waking up. Getting to sleep is still not a problem for me, I just stop trying so hard to get to sleep or relax and just enjoy the comfort of the bed. Sleeping turns out to be a side-effect.
