They most certainly are, lol. Jewish folks have been trying to tell the christo-pagans they got magic book wrong ever since they stole it and ran.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Well, that would be only with the messiah-savior part of the story.
I am only talking about old earth vs young earth in this thread.
These arguments over old Earth came up in the 19th century when science was developing into it's modern form of nailing down what substances are made of (chemistry) and generic behavior of objects (Physics, 18th century, Calculus, mechanics), and nailing down what bio-machines are (biology).

I assume there are plenty of jewish YEC and muslim YEC. It's hard for me to say since I have not seen statistics for those groups. I have only seen country based stats.

Unfortunately, no, the christians got magic book wrong cover to cover, not just some bit about a messiah.

Mainstream jewish thought is dominated by the likes of Gaon and Maimonides. The emphasis is on the ethical rather than factual significance of the stories in old magic book. The creationism that your friend is involved with has nothing to do with any 19th century academic discussion. It's only tangentially related to the initial misapprehensions that created jesusism. It's a contemporary political strategy, meant to bolster a claim to social authority.

Islam, well...they're not at their best right now.

Ethnocentric at best! All cultures have creation myths. Why the Jewish myths? Why not the Hopi or any from the Hindu myths?
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

Intentionally ethnocentric. Old magic book was kwanza for jews. Inventing traditions and history out of a hodgepodge of partial information left after the eradication of their culture.

When you interpret the Bible literally you end up with an incoherent and particularly stoopid deity.

RE: Age of the Universe/Earth
The god of the bible is a fuck up.  That's the beauty of it.  He created a perfect place for people to live and manage.  Every physical aspect and living thing fit together working for ideal harmony.  People were the end goal of his work.  So well designed he not only granted them dominion over earth, he provided a test that, if failed, would result in god abdicating earth to a seemingly endless cycle of death and cruelty.  That's how sure he was about his design.

Adam was god's own image.  Eve was god's own image's bone, made because Adam was lonely, meaning god created Eve to satisfy a horny bastard.  God made the test for Eve, which should she fail, would result in all manner of horrors, then appear to her as a huge talking penis.  At this point of the story, I can't decide who to cast as god.  Tommy Chong or Foster Brooks?  Dom Deluise?

What is Gaon and Maimonides?

I was referring to this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ussher_chronology
"By the middle of the 19th century, Ussher's chronology came under increasing attack from supporters of uniformitarianism, who argued that Ussher's "young Earth" was incompatible with the increasingly accepted view of an Earth much more ancient than Ussher's. It became generally accepted that the Earth was tens, perhaps even hundreds of millions of years old. Ussher fell into disrepute among theologians as well; in 1890, Princeton professor William Henry Green wrote a highly influential article in Bibliotheca Sacra entitled "Primeval Chronology" in which he strongly criticised Ussher. He concluded: "

^^^^It is in the 19th century that evidence was accumulating that the Earth is extremely old: 1. The fossil record 2. evidence for species turning up for their environment
3. Thermodynamics calculations to determine the age of the Earth if initially, the surface was 1500 °C.
One person estimated the age to be 10 million y
One person estimated the age to be 20 million y
One person estimated the age to be 100 million y

The numbers were all over the place but none of them were anywhere near 6000 y.
