Soviets were against evolution and that ruined their agriculture, meaning that we wouldn't have such powerful agriculture today, that can feed billions of people, if we didn't understand and practice evolution. So being against evolution is being recklessly stupid and pro death.

Well.. wasn't it more like a charismatic nut job (Lusenko?) managed to become influencial enough with people who's back ground and professions (A General is really good at fighting/winning wars. Not so good at building a kitchen... or assaying the thruth about biology) hence said charismatic nut job lead people down a path of estruction.

Plus the inference that, once people have invested a substantial amount of mental and emotional investemtn in some thing, they are really disinclined to acknowledge the problems that may develop?
