You'd lose.  No one who knows anything at all about music would rank Vernon Reid as a better guitarist than Jimi Hendrix.  This is so far from right that it isn't even arguable.

But as no one said, you are certainly entitled to prefer Reid over Hendrix, but to say that he's a better guitarist in any measurable way is just nonsense.

All of the individuals/bands i mentioned in the title of the thread are greats in their own right. I simply don't understand why Living Colour didn't get bigger than they did.

But on an individual level, I really would put my money on Vernon Reid over Hendrix.

I agree. But that is the same as saying, "Jefferson was the most responsible for our constitution". True, but other future presidents. governments added amendments and laws that extended more rights to more. I agree, without Hendrix there would be no Reid. But that still does no take away for me, if all things considered, and if they both started out at the same time, I still see Reid's speed and technical talent, better.
