In the context that he single-handedly reinvented the instrument. He completely changed the way people saw what it was capable of.

Like I said, he was GEORGE WASHINGTON. Yes, but others followed him, and improved on what he started.

Just like you can't take away the credit for the land phone, it lead to the cell phone.

Hendrix certainly was an innovator. But future guitarists followed him, and when it comes to metal, all of them where most certainly influenced by him. All I am getting at, is that guitarists like Reid, if Hendrix were alive today, would be amazed at how much progress in music was made by Hendrix's work.

GW didn't single-handedly become the first president and revolutionize politics.

And future Presidents IMPROVED on his first. There are 45 Presidents so far, 44 if you don't count the orange asshole not fit to shine Hendrix's shoes. But things long term have gotten better since Washington. I think music as well has improved in the past 50 years. I wouldn't say every song, no. But Hendrix certainly set the mark for future metal bands.

All of the individuals/bands i mentioned in the title of the thread are greats in their own right. I simply don't understand why Living Colour didn't get bigger than they did.

But on an individual level, I really would put my money on Vernon Reid over Hendrix.

I agree. But that is the same as saying, "Jefferson was the most responsible for our constitution". True, but other future presidents. governments added amendments and laws that extended more rights to more. I agree, without Hendrix there would be no Reid. But that still does no take away for me, if all things considered, and if they both started out at the same time, I still see Reid's speed and technical talent, better.

Bigger than Zeppelin? I could tell you why, but you wouldn’t like it.

Please stop referring to Jimi's music as 'metal'.  You're already off the rails with your evaluation of his skills, getting his genre wrong doesn't help your case.

Yeah, psychedelic rock or just "classic" rock, but definitely not metal.

Of course we did know that Brian is not an expert on music.  Referring to Jimi as metal is just another example of Brian's lack of musical knowledge.

The recent spate of threads also seems to indicate that someone is off his meds again.
