Boru

It doesn't strike you as face-palm worthy that people would demand apologies for actions their own ancestors committed?
Nope. All of christainity is predicated on the sins of adam and eve inherited down through the ages.

That is how religion works and has always worked.

I don't have to appeal to some mythical ancestral Irish blood. I am Irish. I have lived here all my life. I have watched it all happen in front of my eyes.

And as such you also have British ancestry whether you choose to acknowledge that or not.
Perhaps the fact that I know I have mixed ancestry forces me to confront the fact that I have ancestors on both sides of a vast number of conflicts across history whilst others have been able to pretend that that doesn't apply to them, but whatever.

Wow. Such ignorance.

My ancestry is norman french.

Moron.

You are somehow spectacularly fond of being flat out wrong. Why is that?

Actually, a very good friend of mine in Belfast was forced to conceal a Barret 50 in his back yard. At the point of a gun and threats to himself, his wife and his children,

He doesn't store it anymore. Why? because he is dead.

Pogue ma feckin hoane. If you are Irish you are also British. Claims of racial purity are ignorant, including Norman French.
It doesn't occur to you that some of us may have carried an SA-80. Wake up, smell the coffee and grow a backbone.

If you are unable to spell in Irish, don't try to further display your ignorance.

Well sorry. I cannot change my ancestors on a whim. Have you a Tardis handy? Then I might have a chance.

Oh, you are ex UK mil? Then you genuinely have my sympathy. All of those guys got hurled into a no win scenario. I do not envy them in that situation. Nothing that they did would be right. This is not a wise situation to put one's military into. The grunts always end up doing the dying on the frontline.

Personally, I have family reasons to have no axe to grind. My great uncle was active in all of that. He went on to be part of the "special branch", During the war he was tasked with seeking out the Nazi's Gestapo agents. In the course of that work, he was a liason with the British Foreign Office.

Well, in the 70's he eventually married his opposite number. Everyone cheered. Irish spook marries foreign office spook. Nobody got all bent out of shape.

See this is part of the mythology. As an Irish man, I can observe all of the horrible things the military have done. I can also observe all of the horrible things the provos/IRA/INLA/shinners etc have done. All of them are wrong.

I can also sympathise with a squaddie dropped in a maelstrom with little to no guidance as to what the hell was going on.

RE: Agnosticism IS the most dishonest position
As I have repeatedly told you; There is no exclusive Irish or British population. Both are drawn from the same gene pool which means they all share culpability for the actions of their shared ancestors. All the lines of ancestry converge in a shorter time frame than the claims for a start point. that renders the claim absurd and the actual causes are far more immediate.
