A dog watched over us in a stray night
Though far away it made its presence known
It neither barked nor made a sound
Silent it was but it did stand like a statue; alone
Chasing me with that focused look
Looking at me making his eyeballs prone
As if it was begging me to look back
Maybe it wanted to foretell a tale I did not know?
I woke up to remember: it is a dog
A mere hound; mere hounds get hungry; you know
The stars above didn't solve the riddle
Weren't it looking at me because it was britle?
It came near me for flesh; maybe a bone
It was hungry, it was a britle, it was alone
The only riddle is inside my head
Drawing mazes around a hungry dog
