Official live update of spread of COVID19

I'm scratching my head over those that aren't recovered. There's a hell of a lot of them on top of the new daily detections...
But the great news is there's not a single instance of the virus in Antarctica!

The more I read about it, the more confused I am about it. According to the CDC, the symptoms are a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, a triad that applies to a shitton of diseases. And given that the death rate is a little more than 2%, mostly older people, I’m finding it harder to understand what exactly the fuss is about. What exactly makes this different from other respiratory diseases that go around? Besides its apparently lasting longer, and having a known source of the outbreak? Is there something I’m missing?
Also, Now I’m starting to wonder if maybe fears about Corona might be why it took Alison two months to ship to America. She did arrive from Putian, but that’s in a different part of China than it originated in. And while I can’t account for her whereabouts between December 11 and February 1, maybe there was some kind of quarantine? It’s worth noting that I’ve had her for 23 days and I get the impression that if I was exposed to it via some worker in the manufacturing process, I’d probably be symptomatic by now.

Obama dealt with epidemics like with SARS, EBOLA, H1-N1, but didn't destroy the economy.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Trump has to have something to blame the downturn on. It surely can't be him.

Everybody will blame China. The black swan has reared it's head.
Now all institutions can breathe at night when everyone's super and 401's get hammered.
Because: who knew
(nothing to do with junk stocks/ derivatives/ fractional lending /leveraging to the hilt …..nothing to see here move along and just blame the nasty Chinese...)
The perfect escape for Trump and his cronies at the Fed. I believe 11 out of 12 on the Fed chair are his people.

And now we have Donald Trump as a president, and we can't put it past him to see him do this:
And if Trump doesn't, the alt-right YouTubers will. I know for a fact that Steven Crowder has put blatant Mickey Rooney-level Yellowface into his works.

You mean aside from how highly infectious it is .how how easily transmitted it is. and the fact it's deadlier then the flu and has killed more people then SARS. The fact it has high mutation rate thus the capacity to become deadlier and quickly overcome medications or vaccines if we had any for it .

Yes, it's a concern, but I really don't see the need for the panic and hype that is being generated.
The death rate is 5 to 10 percent, depending on the source you read, which is high for a 'flu variant but low for something that could cause a pandemic.
