( 256 ) There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.
Taghut = disbelief
The verse can't be clearer: isn't this identical to the secular rule that prevents the enforcing of belief on anybody?
Freedom of belief is guaranteed in Islam under the protection of this verse. The Quran is God's word; so no Muslim has the right to cross it.
If there is no compulsion to adhere to Islam, then tell me what happens to those born of Muslims who stray away from Islam?

In a world where God exists - this is an Islam topic, remember -, afterlife not existing is far more unlikely. Therefore, the null hypothesis is indeed that there is an afterlife.

The topic being Islam does not make Islam the null hypothesis. The null hypothesis is always that the explanation for something is chance until shown otherwise. It is usually used to determine whether a statistical relationship is significant. Colloquially, it means that you presume something not to be real until evidence sufficient to justify accepting it as real is shown.

That's false. Taghut' means any object of worship other than God, it's certainly not disbelief per se.

Islam is literally the last religion one can hope to secularize, it just won't happen.
So much the worse for Islam, then.

We're discussing Qur'anic minutiae here, it's pathetic for anyone to jump in these topics just to show off how much he knows about some statstical concept, especially when we use it colloquially.
There is more freedom when choosing the null hypothesis than what you're implying. It certainly doesn't mean "the explanation for something is chance" because it really depends on the context.
Also, as I said, in a world with God, the default position really is that there is an afterlife.

Maybe you should just avoid using terms you don't understand. That's what I do.
null hy·poth·e·sis
/nəl hīˈpäTHəsəs/
noun
noun: null hypothesis; plural noun: null hypotheses
(in a statistical test) the hypothesis that there is no significant difference between specified populations, any observed difference being due to sampling or experimental error.

Where does this definition say : "The null hypothesis is always that the explanation for something is chance". That's your definition of the null hypothesis.
You should stop accusing people of not understanding something, when you clearly don't yourself.
