When I went to the store on Sunday, the following items were off the shelves:
- Paper Towels
- Toilet Paper
- Eggs
- Bread (most of it, anyway)
- Bagels
- Milk
- Cold Meds

When I went Sunday the only bread available was a few loaves of cinnamon swirl (and similar flavors). I guess that wouldn't be great for a grilled cheese, ham, or turkey sandwiches and that's why it was still there.
No regular sliced bread, no hot dog or hamburger buns, no English muffins, bagels, dinner rolls. I bought a package of frozen loaves of bread. If it comes down to it I guess I can resort to that unless we have to wipe our butts with it before this is over.

Amount of salt relative to the paucity of sugar. One-two punch, really. Ideally, you want un-amended sweet corn flour in an emulsion, and then two inches of water on top of it.
I use a local variety called Bloody Butcher. The guy mills it and errything. It isn't as sweet as hybrid f1, so the final abv suffers. With hydrid f1, you can toast bacardi like a weak wine. The redneck rule is that if it's good for roasting, it's good for distilling. Canned corn is not good for roasting.
Pro-tip, if you wanna make liquor from the grocery store.......bananas.

Ta. I know most canned veg is insanely high in sodium, I figured that had something to do with it.

Has to be, even the "low sodium" cans are heavily salted, and yeast don't like salt. Great to eat, just shit to drink.
(technically you can still do it, but the abv will be lower than beer - the corn rots before it ferments properly)

Loo roll and baby wipes, soap, cough sweets, any tins of beans or spaghetti, meat, hand sanitizer.
Panic buyers priorities continue to baffle.

From the title, I thought this was a "dial a trade" thread. So i'm going with that.
Two months ago, a lab tech, new to our building, asked me to dispose of a nearly full, 10 gallon container of 190 proof ethanol. She said the expiration date had passed. I thought, that shit goes bad?
So, I moved it out of the yellow, steel cabinet to an off-site location. As fortune would have it, I also have several mature aloe vera plants. Will trade for vintage guitars or badass weed.

It is hydroscopic - that is - it absorbs water from the atmosphere - but - if in a sealed container it should not be an issue...
