I now realize that buffalo Bill was not calling the woman "it" to dehumanize her. He was merely speaking to her respectfully, because all humans are an "it".

Well, I can't say it hurt my feelings. However, I can see why people do not want to be equated with other animals. It is human nature to think more of oneself than other creatures. It's understandable. I still understand Epi's use of it.
