Absolutely. Even Saudi Arabia and Egypt and Turkey have nothing to do with what FM is repeating over and over.

The stereotypes we read on this forum are pretty typical of bigotry.

White doctors in the US used to say that black people can't feel pain.

A US general in Vietnam said that "oriental" people don't value life the way "we" do.

On this thread we hear that billions of Muslim people are forbidden from experiencing pleasure.

You'd think that eventually people would get over this kind of dehumanizing prejudice, but I guess not.

Accept you have found no stereotypes standardized on this forum . You simply impose them to suit your own narrative

Quote:White doctors in the US used to say that black people can't feel pain.
Of which their nothing equivalent on this forum

By the merit of their religion they are . But they do it all the same in contrast to their religion because a life without pleasure is depressing and no one can live that way .

Acknowledging a religion demonizes pleasure despite people partaking in it anyway is not dehumanizing it simply shows the religion contrasts with human nature .

The fact you seem incapable of separating people from the religion is a testament to your folly not ours

SUNGULA, depends on what you mean by "standardized" but there have certainly been subtly degrading stereotypes made about Muslims not only in this thread but in several other threads here and in the shoutbox. Granted, it's very few members indulging in these stereotypes but Belaqua does have a point there. It's these stereotypes that continue to foster certain negative attitudes some hold towards Muslim persons (whether it's bitterness or condescending pity or whatever). And sometimes the failure to separate criticism of one's religion from criticism of one's character is on the other side as well. Some people seem to find themselves "trapped" into hating on the Muslim because of the religion they adhere to and have a hard time with focusing their argument on the religion instead of on the person.

1. I mean a widespread widely accepted viewed endorsed by the forum

2.I won't disagree people do conflate the religion with the people .But i will also point out Bels denial that often these positive element have nothing to do with the religion.

Believe it or not; there are members -and mods- here that said "seriously" that the whole Middle East should be nuked.
I wonder what's the difference between them and between ISIS. I wonder where the rules were when they said that.

If not in this forum, I've certainly heard this elsewhere in at least two other forums I used to participate in in the past. Not surprised if what you say is true. It's like a meme phrase certain people like to say.

Any sane evaluation of the Middle East is up against the full force of the Pentagon, CIA, and their propaganda wings, CNN, MSNBC, etc. For decades now it's been hammered into the English-speaking world that Islam is evil, that without it the region would be sweetness and light. And that the turbaned terrorists are lurking under everyone's beds.

So it's no surprise that people parrot that. Manufacturing consent is what the US does best.

I also think it's why your idea of opening a Human Rights section is met with indifference. Propaganda ties human rights issues to the two main boogie-men: Islam and Communism. It's inconceivable to most people that the US is by far the worst opponent of human rights in our lifetimes. Acknowledging that is too much cognitive dissonance for most people.

So once an enemy has been named, it becomes like something out of Harry Potter world. The bad guys live in a land of permanent gloom, where all pleasure has been banished. Which means that us white folks, the good guys, are doing the world a favor by either liberating or eliminating them. (Where "liberating" means "forcing them to adopt an American life style.")

And there is at least one member here who shall remain nameless (but his name rhymes with ‘’Finter scold’) who has said seriously that he looks forward to the West being decimated by disease.

It’s a wash, I think.

Yeah no

. CNN and MSNBC ....CIA propaganda wings lol.......Saying Islam is evil

Yeah again no

Communism yes . Islam no . Outside of Fox News or Breitbart this simply isn't that case

Quote: It's inconceivable to most people that the US is by far the worst opponent of human rights in our lifetimes.
Not even .Yeah the US no angel. But the worst not even close .

Quote: Acknowledging that is too much cognitive dissonance for most people.
Or the simple fact it isn't true .Like not at all .

Quote:So once an enemy has been named, it becomes like something out of Harry Potter world.
Interesting you use a fantasy book to bring up your fantasy theory

Quote:The bad guys live in a land of permanent gloom,

The "bad guys " generally live in highly repressive dictatorships were they have little power and tend to live under a religion that views pleasure as low priority or down right sinful .

Quote: where all pleasure has been banished.

See above

Quote: Which means that us white folks, the good guys, are doing the world a favor by either liberating or eliminating them.

Yeah that's a strawman . I have never even brought up race (as muslims are a race and there are white people in the middle east). Considering middle eastern countries keep asking us to Liberate them or help them this seems off , And outside of Nazi's i have not heard any talk of elimination .

Quote: (Where "liberating" means "forcing them to adopt an American life style.")
Or not live under a repressive theocracy or a dictatorship which generally people seem miserable under which is why keep revolting  and then getting slaughtered by their own government.
