That Gay Thread
RE: That Gay Thread
And your counter-evidence is a quote from almost 50 years ago and pointing out that an organization I cited is in Georgia and isn't national.

And even LULAC points out that they stand with BLM

And we're still holding the entire Latin-American community to something that the president of LULAC said in the days when Buddy Holly was still alive?

Yup because in Huggy land if an organization had bad leaders at one point or did anything bad in the past the modern version has to also be condemned. Huggy philosophy is guilt by association through and through  Dodgy

Paul McCartney was alive then too, guess what? He's still alive. Dodgy

Not to mention YOU made it a point to mention how old the LULAC was...

Even white supremacists had to admit a knee to the neck was wrong? Dude, I remember arguing with white supremacists (even if they're just closeted) on this very forum who were going out of their way to defend what Chauvin did.

Huggy will engage in whatever mental acrobatics he needs to maintain his original position.

The point is, referring to organizations that speak out against George Floyd's murder is a very low bar.

Everything to Huggy is going to be a low bar. So why should anyone care about his opinion on the matter anyway? His point is a non-point.

As to this being a low bar...you mean for seeing appreciable change?  Yeah, I'd have to agree there.  It does meet the bar for establishing that your beliefs were misinformed, though.  You were wrong about groups inclusivity, though you may be right that inclusivity in advocacy isn't going to be enough.

You yourself stand as a demonstration to that effect, in thread. The inclusivity and, indeed, intersectionality of the groups you criticize isn't enough to overcome whatever torrent of disinformation you've been guzzling from.

I think it's pretty hard to miss the common interests of a group who recently had to use an approved bathroom to people who, today, find themselves the target of similar laws. If I were interested in perpetuating this state of affairs, I'd be damned sure that no two people I'm shitting on got the chance to compare notes. Divide and conquer hugs. Can you imagine the problem for the status quo if minorities, lgbtq, and poor whites all got to bumping heads outside of their approved lanes? That they all had more in common, and, not to put too fine a point on it, a common enemy? Any person or system that feels confident in denying the full humanity of a person based on the gender-coded clothes they're wearing or who they kiss will have no qualms doing the same on the basis of the skin they wear or the value of the clothes they hide it with.
