That's kind of the big thing with identity politics: when applied properly (read: when you're not looking for an excuse to be the sort of oppressive asshole that we rightly revile the white supremacist power structure for being), it can be a beautiful thing, letting the people in on a whole new culture, and maybe give you enough parallels between different types of oppression that one group can empathise with another's pain, which could hopefully lead to solidarity and another group of allies to help create something new.

And then, we get some people who are only in it for their own sake (or their own particular Volk), rejecting common ground, insisting that their pain, their history, and their oppressions are the only ones that matter, not breaking down barriers, but seeking to reinforce them, hopefully with themselves on top. And, in the end, nothing is accomplished. Or, if anything is, it'll boil down to this:

After the election, I hope she’s tasked with pushing a UN resolution making sure that gay people get their own public restrooms. I mean, if I go to a public toilet after a gay person, what’s to prevent me from catching the Gay Germ?

Pauline Hanson says, transgender kids should be taken away from their parents

In an online gathering of hard-right commentators, Australian Senator Pauline Hanson said parents who believed their child might be transgender should have their children taken away them, OutinPerth reports.

Hanson appeared on Pellowe an online political discussion program alongside others such as Queensland MP George Christensen and a spokesperson from the Australian Christian Lobby.

Hanson said parents who take their children to the doctor and believe their children are transgender are “bloody idiots” and “need their heads read”.
