That Gay Thread
RE: That Gay Thread
Daniel Craig says that he’s always preferred going to gay bars because it’s a “safe” environment where he could avoid getting in fights.

“I’ve been going to gay bars for as long as I can remember. One of the reasons: because I don’t get into fights in gay bars that often,” he recounted. “It was like … ‘I don’t want to end up in a punch-up.’ And I did. That would happen quite a lot.”

But there was also one other perk for Craig when it comes to his bar type of choice. Not only was the atmosphere more laid back, but it was also a good place for him to meet interested women, as they were there for similar reasons.

“It would just be a good place to go. Everybody was chill, everybody. You didn’t really have to sort of state your sexuality. It was OK. And it was a very safe place to be,” Craig explained. “And I could meet girls there, because there are a lot of girls there for exactly the same reason I was there. It was kind of an ulterior motive.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

We aren’t even talking about what does or doesn’t constitute transphobia right now. Why are you veering off into another direction?  Whether or not a straight man is comfortable having a sexual relationship with trans women, and whether or not a straight man’s feelings on the matter constitute transphobia have absolutely nothing to do with the actual existence of trans women. Your point is a non-sequitur. Very telling that you’ll take the time to sift through YouTube videos in search of some “gotcha” clip, but you won’t take the time to familiarize yourself with the body of scientific evidence on the matter. Your methodology for understanding transgenderism is biased and flawed. Go do some actual research (you’ve had like, three days now) and try again.

What Rev Rye presented included absolutely zero data. For instance, previous to 1973 homosexuality was diagnosed as a disorder, in 1973 that diagnosis was removed based on a VOTE.

Likewise The American Psychiatric Association renaming of what they considered a disorder (based on science) in 2013, had absolutely nothing to do with scientific data.

DSM-V To Rename Gender Identity Disorder 'Gender Dysphoria'

Quote:The newest edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, or DSM, will replace the diagnostic term “Gender Identity Disorder” with the term “Gender Dysphoria,” according to the Associated Press.

For years advocates have lobbied the American Psychiatric Association to change or remove categories labeling transgender people in a psychiatric manual, arguing that terms like “Gender Identity Disorder” characterize all trans people as mentally ill. Based on the standards to be set by the DSM-V, individuals will be diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria for displaying “a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender and assigned gender.”

Therefore the change of the diagnosis was in no way based on science, and seems more likely that they were paid by LBGT organizations to make the change.

What should it have been - a decree from God?

You do realize that calling anything at all a "disorder" is a value judgment.  It is to declare something as an impairment, outside of human norms, and possibly treatable by the profession.

Homosexuality is none of these things.  Homosexuality provides no impairment to functioning in society, is a common aspect of the animal kingdom, and is not something that can or should be "fixed".

Sad that this has to be explained to people, still, in 2021. I’d love to here Huggy’s data for Yahweh and his bizarre interest in human sexuality.

If we're going to talk about lobbying, then perhaps we should talk about Christianity as a mental illness. After all, belief that there's a man in the sky who will punish you after you die if you don't obey him only becomes 'acceptable' if said 'man' is called 'god'. If said 'man' is called "Steve" then you'll most likely be locked away. Were it not for the political power of the church and how common religion is in our world, Christianity would certainly be classified as a mental illness.

It's worth noting that demonstrably, homosexuality does not impair judgement, stability or general social capabilities. Religion on the other hand, has (at least in recent years) shown time and again that it impairs the judgment of individuals. They act in accordance to a 2000 year old book, rather than their own judgment. And religious people (particularly evangelicals) have shown themselves incapable in social situations with people who aren't like them. It's only because their beliefs are common, that it's not classified as a mental illness (compared to homosexuality, which was determined not to be an illness because it does not fit the standards of mental illness, rather than how common it is.)
"Tradition" is just a word people use to make themselves feel better about being an asshole.

An overwhelmingly common factor in homosexuality is sexual abuse. I noticed you guys switched the subject from Trans to homosexuality. Stay on topic please.
