Judge throws out attempt to repeal trans anti-bullying policy in Ohio
Pinknews Quote:US district chief judge Algenon Marbley slapped down a legal complaint from the right-wing advocacy group Parents Defending Education (PDE) that was attempting to rescind anti-bullying policies in the Olentangy Local School District. I always question the humanity of those who want to be inhumane toward others.

Let's be real here, if you are not like me, are you even worthy of gracious consideration?
I find the current wave of anti-lgbtq+, esp anti-trans, rhetoric and actions in the US and UK quite disturbing.

The Religious Right cannot exist without marking a class of people as the Enemy to mobilize the base. They did it to the Irish, they did it to Jews, they did it to persons of color, and they did it to gays and lesbians. As soon as one particular target group gains legal protection they cast about for another "enemy". Notice how anti-trans bigotry suddenly flared up after gays and lesbians were granted marriage equality at the Supreme Court level? I have never understood why anyone cares about the sex lives (that's the best way to put it all together) of others. If it's not you or your partner...I can't understand wasting a minute thinking about it. The whole anti thing is a bunch of scared people who think that LBGTQ+++ and trans people are out recruiting or are seriously dangerous. Scared people do hateful, violent things. I didn't get it when I first became aware in the 70s and I still don't get it.
It's quite simply none of ypur business.
What the gay couple across the road do has zero effect on me.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
You folks are forgetting something, none of you absolute losers are the center of the universe, and have no idea about the adversities associated with being so fucking special.
@LinuxGal
Indeed. It really does seem that scapegoating an 'other' is a standard tactic for many religious and political ideologies. Its easy to manipulate people, especially it seems likely there's an inbuilt distrust of difference and disgust of certain things in many people. @arewethereyet Again, true. Scared people can be dangerous. And it's easy for the media and institutions to stoke fear and hatred, esp in the age of social media. I suspect things are going going get worse before they get better. @zebo-the-fat I think the issue is that so many are now thinking it is their business, that their kids are at risk, or it's damaging their country or some other silliness. |
