Because he has reversed a century of history and progress by by turning Turkey from a secular nation to an Islamist state.
Because he has faked a "coup", detaining thousands and killing no-one knows how many to retain power.
He's a wannabe dictator in the same vein as others in the ME and elsewhere that you, in the past, have reviled.
And what I said Erdogan needs, I firmly believe that many such dictator wannabes in the east and west need.

I wouldn't call the period of Turkey's militarizing a "progress", it was in that period when Turkey lost most of its land and most of its pride. He didn't fake the coup; rather his people protected him because some military generals were the head behind the coup; and Turkish people did not want to live the tragedy of WW1's period,
I'm still against the dictators of the ME to the core; I still want to see every one of them pay and get trialed and get the guillotine , Erdogan is having a war right now against Assad and against Haftar and against SISI. So he doesn't look as bad as you picture him to be.

He is making war on the PKK (not the Kurds); the PKK is a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union, the U.S too:
