Wink

Shit like this, I really start to question whether you even believe the shit you spew across the forums.

A mandatory 14-day quarantine for anyone entering the country is actually a reasonable plan. Chicago has an emergency travel order and if you're coming in from 23 states (list with methodology heah), you have to stay in quarantine for a fortnight. I also have a job as a columnist with Anglotopia and I can't even get on the site without getting a reminder that Britain is still under an even more restrictive quarantine. I'm sure there's other jurisdictions under similar rules. There's no real reason this needs to lead to  a slippery slope.
This is just Bikers stupid attempt at exposing imaginary hypocrisy

So, it’s more like a better-veiled-than-usual version of this?

Who said don’t let them in? If someone with any other communicable disease tries to immigrate, you simply quarantine them until they’re no longer a health risk. There’s no reason you couldn’t do that with people who test positive for this particular virus.

Who said don't let them in?

Uh - the government....

They are not quaranteeing anyone. I don't know why you would try whitewashing it otherwise...

They simply aren't letting them in.

Fuck you.

Spew?

I am simply putting out something reported on NPR and questioning if you think shutting down the borders is ok - because Trump did it - and the ( D )s are going along with it....

And this wonderful 14 day quarantine you are yapping about - does not apply to the international borders - like you seem to want to pretend.

It doesn’t apply to international borders, at least in America, that I admit. But if you’re thinking about any sort of COVID-related border control, it fucking should. And that’s probably the most sensible (and likely effective) type of COVID-related border control.

Ok...

Where you putting all these people?

And what of the rush to come - when immigrants hear about the "free medical care"? (Such rumors WILL circulate. You are naive if you think they won't).

Guess what?

You are endorsing concentration camps... Whatever place you choose as a quarantine area will be too small to provide for social distancing as they fill up.  That is a given. Then, when C19 does show up (it will) the area goes into lockdown... Nobody gets out - but all the new arrivals will get sent there......

Great solution genius....

The possibility of a rush of immigrants coming into America because of rumours of free healthcare did concern me... at least until I did a bit of research and found out that Mexico actually has free universal health care, something the USA has not been able to properly pull off. Yes, I am well aware that Mexico isn't the only place where immigrants come from, but given that Mexico is the only Latin-American nation America shares a border with, the majority would still have to go through Mexico, and if they went north for free medical care, it would make no sense to go all the way up to a nation that doesn't have it, when a nation they'd likely have to pass through actually does.

Yet you fail to address your endorsement of concentration camps.

RE: Border Control Gets Bipartisan Support
My point is that I don't see this as requiring a full-on concentration camp, especially since one of the fundamental points your argument hinges upon doesn't hold up to scrutiny. And, frankly, if the 14-day quarantine system doesn't work, then there's really no point in bothering with additional border checks.

At this point, you're far more likely to get COVID from one of your fellow countrymen than a foreigner, and if a quarantine proves unfeasible, then there's no way other, more restrictive, systems are going to work. If they’re so ineffective and even detrimental when we don’t have a plague on our hands, I fail to see how they can work now.

You don't seem to understand - I harbor no illusions that ANYTHING we do is going to substantially stop cross border spread of C19.

My point is that all of a sudden the ( D )s are on board with shutting down the borders. No quarantine.

Just shut it down. No asylum.

Tough tittie sick people....
