Phosphene detected in the upper atmosphere of Venus, possible evidence of microbial life?

(Venus is 400+ degrees C on the surface, but much cooler high in the clouds, any bugs would need to be tough though to resist the droplets of sulphuric acid!)
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!

When they find a biplane towing a banner that reads ‘MARRY ME SUSAN’, get back to me.

Nah, just find it difficult to get all worked up over phosphine molecules. Something a little more substantial would be intriguing.

I'll be interested in seeing the results from Titan when the probe eventually gets there.

I think geothermal warmed liquid water mantle under ice cover, such as those on Europa, Enceladus, Ganymede, and Callisto, and apparently also Pluto, remain the best prospects in solar system for sizable presence of life even vaguely similar to us in chemistry or organization.   mars might also hosts a remnant subsurface biosphere in geothermal warmed aquifer.   Titan surface is probably far too cold to enable organic chemistry to proceed very far within the age of the solar system.

I also think organic life sign on venus is a mirage.   it seem difficult to imagine an entirely airborne biosphere as no organics will survive even in the lower Venusian atmophere, much less the surface.   how nutrients reach upper atmosphere, or will be steadily replenish is hard to imagine.   i think we simply have not done adequate research to anticipate all the nonbiological chemical processes that can possibly introduce trace amounts of organic molecules into a nonbiological planetary environment.
