After all, paedophiles has historically been abused in society, and paedophilia isn't considered a "choice" by medical professionals studying the field. So, would you support a bill that protected paedophiles from abuse under a discrimination act, given that paedophilia is as much of a choice as homosexuality?

Yes, and if they cannot control their urges & actually do something illegal to or with a minor they can be put in a mental hospital like any other person with a mental condition they didn't "choose" to have. Certainly you are not suggesting that it should be legal for said paedophiles to have sexual relations with a child because they didn't "choose" to be a paedophile?

But it is the societal rights of each individual to experience nurturing, and what society wouldn't want that quality of nurturing to be as high as possible. To forgo the entire experience of a child of having the opportunity to have parents, because of 1 of millions of beliefs of the parental individuals is what's laughable. Especially when no other information is given as to the bountiful other aspect of nurturing that having these parents could provide. They've apparently done well with other children. The state shouldn't be giving money to homophobes, racists or Nazis, they should be giving money to parents who take care and nurture their children, which clearly was an epic fail here.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Yes, yes he did.

According to this lot that would qualify you as a homophobe.

1. How old are the children to be adopted??
2. Sexual orientation of the children being adopted / Fostered?
3. Prior care given to the children to be adopted?
4. Developmental problems of the children to be adopted??

I guess I must have missed these issues..... grateful to be enlightened

All good questions. And everyone of them could make a difference in the social worker's & judge's choice to disallow this couple from fostering. Unfortunately, we'll probably never have the answers to this part, other than perhaps age.

Adrian Wrote:Yes, both racists and Nazis should be able to foster children, as long as they are looking after the children. By "this is something we shouldn't be teaching kids" you actually mean "this is something I don't think we should be teaching kids".

How could it be something we should be teaching kids? Are you suggesting that racism is a belief system that has a possibility of being right?

If you've never had any experience raising kids, then you've never had any experience raising kids. I'm not so sure why that is so difficult for you to understand. I guess you think that stable & functional people just happen on their own then?
