Leaving FB

RE: Leaving FB
I use Facebook to host videos and share them here, and it is very handy for that. For instance, this video would be taken off YouTube immediately

As would this one

So I really, really appreciate Facebook for that, but I certainly wouldn't open personal public account to play the popularity contest of who gets more likes and shit like that.

I guess nothing is perfect so you just have to find what is useful for you.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

RE: Leaving FB
I'm active on FB. I got to watch a cool video of my grandson hitting his first home run last week...he's 9. That's one of the main reasons I have FB.

I have gotten better about just getting rid of people I no longer want to deal with. I choose what, and who, I want to see on there.

RE: Leaving FB
It's a little difficult to leave when it's used by so many to relay information (town/city, schools, groups).

What I have done is really whittle down my friends, and I also block people. You can also (to some degree) control what you see.

Just as curiosity, have you been blocked by Ken Ham yet? I've heard he blocks everyone who he senses is an atheist.

RE: Leaving FB
I left fb some 6 months ago and have been happier. Joined Twitter and just lurk around. Nonetheless both are addictive.
