So, I'm watching ST:TNG

So, I'm watching ST:TNG
Star Trek: The Next Generation.

It suddenly occurred to me that I have never watched a full episode of anything before Voyager. Therefore, with TNG being the highest rated Star Trek series on IMDB, I decided to watch it from the beginning.

My first impression was that the creator and writers of the show were very forward thinking for time period of 1987.

So, here I am, twelve episodes in, and I am thinking to myself, Okay, so when does Wesley start being annoying?

Why have I asked myself that?

I think I recall it having been stated that Wesley was an annoying character on the show.

To the contrary, Wesley, despite being a teenager, is the only one who sees what the adults consistently miss. It reminds me of why I write teenage characters.

One of the USENET groups back in the day was alt.ensign.wesley.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.die.

I had no idea who they were talking about.

Maybe Wesley is not irritating to gay people, just like Justin Bieber isn't.

But seriously I didn't pay much attention to Wesley, but his character had a really dumb ending in the show.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

He was the McGuffin, the Oracle, the supercomputer that said "42".

I liked this series. It was one I watched back when I watched TV a lot more. I don't recall Wesley being annoying, and as far as seeing what the adults "missed", it's in the script.

Somewhere around the Pentarus 5 mission I would think, where he saved picard, then went on to ....yadayada... no one cared.
"There ought to be a term that would designate those who actually follow the teachings of Jesus, since the word 'Christian' has been largely divorced from those teachings, and so polluted by fundamentalists that it has come to connote their polar opposite: intolerance, vindictive hatred, and bigotry." -- Philip Stater, Huffington Post

Wesley will never be the most hated for me simply by proxy of Q existing.

I read the thread title as ‘So, I’m watching Sting’ and wondered why there was no music video.

I liked Wesley Crusher and I'm not gay. I mean I like him as a character, I don't like him like him.

I will say that the warp bubble episode will go down as the dumbest episode I've ever watched! But that isn't Wesley's fault.

I like the actor's show, "Tabletop" also.
