Local woman says only way she has survived during COVID is faith

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share my view on a local new story done in my region. A woman, lost her mother and brother in law to COVID. She stated at the end of the story the only way she has stayed positive is through her faith. It's sad that people have to deal with loss to this stuff, but to say your last strain of hope is because of faith, I think is strange. During these times, I'm still the most puzzled about ho people of faith, can even bother with faith. To me, to you guys I think you would agree, I'm surprised the COVID thing, isn't the waking up point for people of faith, to like, you know what all religion is horrible and if God did exist, he sure wouldn't care about people. Why, do you think people turn to faith as their last hope in life?

For myself, what makes the Atheist community and especially this forum, is how great it is to always come here and share with all of you and be around other Atheists. Hope, everyone is doing well and safe.

I cant stand this fucking logic. I bet that her mother and brother in law also had "faith". 

Lots of people with "faith" die too. And ultimately even if one makes it to old age, we all die. 

The death average worldwide from anything and everything at all ages is an average of 50 to 60 million deaths per year. 

That is an average of a 500 million deaths every 10 years and a billion deaths every 20 years. That doesn't smack of a magic sky hero at all.

Your numbers are roughly correct, but your conclusion isn’t justified. There’s simply no way for you to know if 60 million deaths a year isn’t part of the magic sky hero’s plan. Maybe its heroism is directed at beetles or antelopes or myrtle trees.

That’s the thing about gods - nothing anyone ever says about them can possibly have any real meaning.

Spot on, I brought this up to religious family, my sister said 'that was in the bible right' I just facepalmed and she's standard Catholic beliefs, then on my local news station, you see 'church ads' saying 'we'll get through the pandemic with prayer' People of faith are grasping on straws as much as they can. Well they all are in the dream of the illusion of 'God'.

I don't think this is true.  Faith in "something" (anything) provides some people a strength to get through hardship.

However, if they are expecting prayer to overcome natural law, they are going to be sadly in error.  Luckily for God, He works in "mysterious ways", so that any failure in promises can be explained away. 

The most misused quote is Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him".  So, your bad situation is just God working on a better one.  Heck, the worse things are, the more proof that God is working!
