Separation of Science and State
RE: Separation of Science and State
Not only does freedom of speech and press ensure you can investigate and communicate scientific findings; rights pertaining to property open the door to experimentation with that property. Rights to assemble allow for scientific conferences to occur, etc.

To say science isn't protected by the constitution is to not understand what science is and does.

At work.

Uhm.... I think your comments are more pertaining to a side effect, albeit a welcome one, of a free and open society.

By those same ideals people of different cultures, beliefs and life styles are also safe, open and protected.

If the facts are against you argue the law, if the law is against you argue facts, and if the facts and the law are against you, argue definitions, huh.

Science is the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment....

.....and there is no such right. It's not in there. If you think it should be, fine.

But your honor, those are my human eggs and my pig, how can you tell me I cant make a pigman! What about mah rights! Jerkoff

You see...in mere reality, the government can and does tell us what we can and can't do with our property. It isn't because our religion is our property that there's a separation of church and state, nor is illegality excepted on account of a person doing illegal shit with their very own stuff. Don't take my word for it, try to buy restricted items to perform restricted research in an unapproved location. You'll find that there's no end of laws respecting an establishment of science, and we routinely craft laws that favor one science over another.

Wouldn't matter what it is or does, it's not a right and nothing we have makes it so. The very thing that we have declared we will not do in case of religion is an account of governments entire interaction with science.

We set up boards to declare this or that the official line - and a requirement of public education..or removed from it. We fund and defund programs based on their utility and the political climate of the day. Etc etc etc.

Given that intellectual discourse depends on them, definitions always are, and ought to be, free to discuss.

No right to those either. You're not going to be able to define your way out from under a charge. They set those definitions, and they're binding.

What is murder, anyway, your honor?

The beauty of our legal system is that law is always under interpretation. There is clearly a protection of science under the aforementioned amendments. And if there is any doubt, a good lawyer with the right case can have that legal precedent established in court.

Another suggestion that we should do something about it, if we're fucking up that way. We're making plenty of laws respecting the establishment of science and favoring specific sciences. The exact text, of the exact thing, we're discussing. It's something that we're doing which..at least yet, hasn't seemed controversial to the greater public.

Again, if you would like to afford science greater protection than it currently enjoys, that's great - right now it's not on par with religion..and, in fact, people can use their religions as a bludgeon against it...legally. Are you ready to have religion beaten over the head with the science stick with the full force of law behind it?

-and lets add another attribute to our church of the secular sacred. They have lawyers..who have an interpretation. Any thoughts on them yet?
