Some great news
December 7, 2020 at 6:11 pm
It's a start. Too many people getting killed every day around the world because they don't agree with what someone's prophet said some 1400 years ago –– or rotting in jail waiting for trial for eventually be put to death for doing so.

Won’t change anything. No one thinks for one minute that those societies which already punish blasphemers, heretics and apostates are going to change their ways because USian politicians waggled their collective finger and said, ‘Naughty, naughty.’

It’s a start—it will take a while but eventually this will start putting pressure on governments.

No, it isn't a start, and it won't pressure anyone. It's a resolution, which means it doesn't have the force of law, which means the US can and will do nothing beyond righteous indignation and hand-wringing. It's going to impact the world about as much as National Hot Dog Week or Take Your Ferret To Work Day.
It's a feel-good nothing burger.

If they let Julian Assange go that would be better news.

At work.
That's great. It's a start.
Will the Yanks start with their own states and counties?
They have some weird ideas still on their books. Heck just review the late George Carlin.

That’s how taboos start—this will never be a law for sure enforced by USA in other countries but when civilized world shuns something, there a shame element that governments around the world have deal with over and over again. Change takes a very long time but it starts with attitude change towards ideas.

As long as there is religion, there will be religious persecution.

Yes. But religion doesn’t just go away one day out of the blue—it takes many small change over a period of time.
