Heh

Close enough. They are the Icelandic Yule Lads who bring gift for the 13 days before Christmas.

Well done!

The versions of Santa are as varied as gods.....

I always thought the Dutch had the most tasteless version -- Sinterklaus - with "Black Pete" -- a guy - or guys in blackface...... Goes back to the slave trading days...

RE: More Pointless Trivia
The answers in bold.

1. Who or what are Sheep-Cote Clod, Gully Gawk, Stubby, Spoon-Licker, Pot-Scraper, Bowl-Licker, Door-Slammer, Yogurt-Gobbler, Sausage-Swiper, Window-Peeper, Doorway-Sniffer, Meat-Hook, and Candle-Stealer? (hint:  Holiday-themed answer)

The Icelandic Yule Lads

2. The term 'road rage' was coined in 1988, but when was the first recorded instance of road rage? (hint:  NOT '1988)

429 BCE. Oedipus, on the road to Thebes, gets into an argument about whose chariot has the right of way, and ends up killing the other driver (and coincidentally fulfilling a prophecy).

3.  You're sitting down watching telly when you suddenly smell burning toast. What does this signify? (hint: not what you've been told)

Busted toaster.

4.  Where is the most remote statue of Vladimir Lenin? (hint: 'remotest' meaning 'farthest from any continuously inhabited areas')

At the South Pole of Inaccessibility.

5.  How many poles does the earth have? (hint:  Not, it's not 2 or 4)

11.  Two geographic, two magnetic, two geomagnetic, two inaccessibility, two celestial, one ceremonial.

6.  Under what circumstances is the word 'rebate' correctly pronounced as 'rabbit'? (hint: Tradesmen)

Carpentry.

7.  What is the most frightening thing about sharks? (hint: Not their teeth)

The ominous music in documentaries and films about sharks. Studies have shown that people, when viewing clips of sharks accompanied by spooky music, have a greater fear response than when shown the same clip without music or with upbeat music. This also gives them a more negative view of sharks, which may hamper conservation efforts.

8.  How many outlaws were convicted by courts in the American old west? (hint: it's less than 100)

None. By legal definition, the term 'outlaw' means someone who has been placed outside the protection of the law. Thus, no one who stands trial is an outlaw (the use of 'outlaw' to mean 'criminal' is fairly recent and highly inaccurate).

9.  How would you defend yourself against this fierce-looking creature? (hint: 'With a gun' is disallowed as an answer)

Stamp on it. It was about four inches high.

10.  How many paintings did Vincent Van Gogh sell during his lifetime? (hint:  THIS IS A TRICK QUESTION!!)

We don't know the actual number, but it was definitely in excess of 100. In his youth, Van Gogh was an art dealer and did pretty well at it, considering his brain problems. The paintings he sold were painted by other people (I TOLD you it was a trick question).
