Okay a black girl I will say Gorilla SNOT hairspray and gel does smell like some industrial grade level stuff. So I mean I guess she thought what’s the diff
The actual story doesn't support the culture war interpretation. I know we're all very surprised.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

The Washington Post has now blamed systemic racism for the gorilla glue mishap, because of course they did. Makes sense. Also, newspapers calling out Bernie Sanders for his white privilege because a meme was made about his mittens and he took attention away from Kamalla on her big day. This is why we don't need the Onion anymore.

At no point does the newspaper blame systemic racism (the phrase doesn't even appear in the article) for what this woman did, it simply quotes an historian who quite rightly points out that ideas of beauty have been largely set by the White community. 2. No, 'newspapers' are not accusing Sanders of anything remotely like white privilege. It was ONE op-ed in ONE newspaper. An opinion piece is not the same as a journalistic accusation. Boru

And how are European beauty standards relevant to an idiot putting glue on their head?

If they aren't relevant, then you shouldn't be bothering to defend the article if you disagree with it yourself. European beauty standards and systemic racism mean the same thing to these people. The author of the article is not happy that people are laughing at gorilla glue girl, and brings up how slaves had to use oil in their hair or whatever. Gorilla glue girl isn't a slave.
I'm not defending the article, I'm objecting to your characterization that newpapers are at fault. In the first, the Opindi article grossly mischaracterized what the WP article said. In the second, you seem to take the views expressed in an op-ed as somehow indicative of the position of the San Francisco Chronicle.
