His targeting of what he percieved to be asian sex workers, and specifically asian, was intentional - as that was the locus of the sexual fetish that he used to sanitize his actions by referencing addiction.
Are we really going to take a trip to crazy town and argue that a guy who specifically targetted asian massage parlors wasn't specifically targeting asians?  I guess the silver lining here, is that even racists would rather be addicts than racists. Perhaps that's why they fail, and their sympathizing apologists fail, to realize that a person can be both - and that the one can be directly tied to the other.

The point is the same act (in this case, the taking of a human life) may or may not be a crime. And if it is a crime, it can be a crime of a greater or lesser degree. Motivation plays a significant roll in making that determination. Boru

Which is why it's going to be important to plea bargain with the public in advance of the trial so that this poor suffering white boy, the first victim of this tragedy, isn't too harshly punished for having a bad day.
