Sixth-grade girl shoots three at Idaho middle school

I haven't read the story, so I have no idea where she got the gun from. But there have been ample examples of kids killing themselves and others when they've managed to get hold of their parents' loaded guns.
Is it really difficult for these idiots to lock up tgeir guns? Or at least to not leave the fucking things lying around loaded.
