Are lockdowns justified?

Who is now behaving like a global warming denier? If COVID-19 cases are falling over time, you should not expect every single day to have fewer cases than the previous day.

WTF does global warming...and while we're at it, wheat...have to do with the price of tea in China?

I don't know now. My echo-chamber is full of stories such as this one: https://fee.org/articles/texas-hits-reco...trictions/
The raw data, by the government, is available here: https://tabexternal.dshs.texas.gov/t/THD...y&:embed=y
Either way, cases have been falling in Texas since March the 2nd, when the lockdown and mask mandate was lifted. Perhaps not as dramatically as that article by Foundation for Economic Education would lead you to believe, but they are definitely not increasing.

That is just childish. Did you never for a moment consider that although the mandate for masks and social distancing is removed that people will continue to do both anyway? To protect themselves and their nearest and dearest? Did that penny never drop into your cranium and rattle around in it's new spacious environment?

You hit the nail on the head right there - there's a certain set of people who aren't so much skeptical of masks or vaccines or science in general as they are in human beings giving a shit, or giving a shit about human beings.

Surprisingly, though Abbott lifted the mandate a majority of businesses and local and county offices are still requiring them.

There's more traffic now but it seems most people are still taking basic precautions.  People just don't like doing what their told...they seem better with it when they feel like they made the choice.

Psychology is outside my skill set, but I suspect you may be correct. In fact, one of the articles cited by FlatAssembler states as much. I suspect he didn't actually read it before posting it. A possible corollary to Betteridge's Law.

If the governor tells everyone to run around and spread COVID, the rational person stays as far away from these people as possible.

Of course, vaccination is starting to reduce numbers in the U.S. now. Not so much in Canada.

Hard to believe this thread is still alive.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

If politics was taken out of the equation, I wonder if all this anti-mask, anti lockdown sentiment would be a thing? Trump caused so much unnecessary political spin, in dealing with a medical issue.
