The world would collapse if we abandoned idiots during a pandemic, and, frankly, that's the entire point of public health - that someone who actually knows something is helping people who either don't or can't.

I’m more than ok with society creating institutions to help people who can’t or won’t help themselves, but I do think a line needs to be drawn to exclude those people who are actively working to damage that society. You know - Nazis, white supremacists, anti-vaxxers, people trying to bring back disco, etc.

Smokers are more closely related to anti vaxxers for sure. There was a time when smoking in bars or restaurants were were accepted, and smokers fought back. They were wrong, because their second hand smoke did have an affect on those around them. But fat "people" and "drug addicts, that is not spreadable. Smoking in most businesses is banned, as it should be. Drinking and driving has also had a long history of being illegal. 

"My body my choice" does not apply to masks or vaccines. You can spread a virus, you can not spread a pregnancy. Seat belts and air bags have for the past 30 years been standard law for all vehicles.

I smoke and I drink. But I don't smoke around people who don't. And I don't call people who don't drink assholes or wimps. A virus doesn't give one fuck about left or right or politics. It will kill someone, anyone. So the more people wear masks, for now, and the more people get a vaccine, the quicker we can all get past this pandemic.

Mitch McConnel was down the way from me saying the quiet parts out loud while he toured narya capitals combo tax scam/political ad greenhouse... while preening over Biden's BIF bill he just voted for.

I'm surprised we even got a C. We have a lot of infrastructure needs, both in rural areas and with big bridges. It's a godsend for Kentucky.

The whole region is deep red, and they've certainly been complaining about the giant dick up their asses making life extremely uncomfortable...but they seem to be confused as to just whose dick that is.....

That may very well be, and we all know what snowflakes rightwing nuts are. However. The books aren't even what these nuts think they are..and they're on the cloud. What are they gonna do, performatively burn binders full of blank paper while dancing around the flame like a coven of witches wailing and gnashing their teeth about the poor babbies?

I'm better than half onboard, I'd light the fire myself just to watch the spectacle of these loons torching whatevers left of their own dignity.

Yeah, I get that they think they can burn digital books in a traditional Nazi-esque bonfire. I was simply making a point about libraries in general.

It's bleedover man. Things I used to think were completely obvious and take for granted have been proven to be my unrepresentative assumptions about my fellow man. To your point, and without the bleedover..and even though it probably does represent a comment on the sad state of affairs in american public schools..I'd be surprised if there actually were a book left in them which legitimately offends anyone, let alone for the reasons they so often claim. The nuts in question have never cracked a page, and don't know what's in these books, which, again obvious..is demonstrated by the content of their bitching.

We produced some of the most subversive authors in western culture...people who made it their mission to cleverly offend...but that's not even remotely close to what we're known for anymore. I was catching up on real time last night, and bill maher cracked a great joke. About joe bidens "this is the us of a, what are we doing, dammit" - because he was old enough to remember when it was weird to think of america as a giant fuckup.
