DHL cargo plane crashes near Vilnius.

Reminded me of the story earlier in the month about Russians plotting to put incendiary devices on DHL planes.

There is no speculation about a cause of today's crash but it does prompt the question in my head.

I'd be willing to bet it's front-of-mind for the investigators, too.

I find this disheartening.
Hunter Biden Pardoned
Quote:
President Joe Biden's pardon of his son Hunter deepened an entanglement of politics and the rule of law that has tarnished faith in American justice and is almost certain to worsen in Donald Trump's second term.

The Sunday evening move was a stunning development since Biden came to office vowing to restore the independence of the Justice Department, which had been eroded during Trump’s first term, and because he had repeatedly said he wouldn’t pardon his son.

You and Donald Trump.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Biden accepts Trumpian nepotism -- more correctly in this case favoritism -- with this pardon.
I personally wish that we could do away with presidential pardons. If a jury of 12 has found them guilty, who the fuck is one to say he isn't?

I think it raises some interesting questions. I have a bigger fear that any of those larger discussions are not likely to happen.
Politics has become the sport of juvenile minds.
I think pardons should be adjudicated by a board or commission, but nothing beyond personal integrity of those at the top will keep things fair. It seems we are past that point.

You and Donald Trump.
I think Trump finds it enormously encouraging.

Andrew Tate website hacked
An online money-making course belonging to right-wing “manosphere” influencer and accused child sex trafficker Andrew Tate has been hacked by pro-transgender hackers. The hack has revealed that the course’s users — who pay from around $41 to $50 a month to use the site — have complained about its chat forums being overrun by spam.
The hackers accessed over 794,000 usernames, the contents of 616 public and private chat servers, and 324,382 unique email addresses of former users who stopped paying for the course, according to The Daily Dot. The hackers also changed the course’s primary chatroom with emojis that included the trans flag, a feminist fist icon, pictures of Tate draped in the rainbow flag, pics of him with enlarged buttocks, and icons that spelled out “Andrew Tate loves kissing femboys.”

Quote:South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol attempted to declare martial law in the country for the first time in 45 years but was blocked by a parliament vote early Wednesday morning local time.
National Assembly Speaker Woo Won Shik vowed to “protect democracy with the people” while urging military personnel to retreat from the legislative building, according to reports from the Associated Press. All 190 members who participated in the vote moved to block the declaration.
Before attempting to declare martial law, Suk Yeol described the parliament as a “den for criminals” who were “attempting to overthrow” the nation’s democracy.
“Our parliament has become a den for criminals. It has paralyzed the administrative and legal systems by ramming through [opposition-driven] legislations and is attempting to overthrow our democratic system,” Suk Yeol, the president and leader of the People Power Party, said in his announcement according to Reuters.
“Our parliament, which should serve as the foundation of democracy, has become a monster toppling it,” he added.
Moments later he tried to invoke martial law.
“I declare martial law to protect the free Republic of Korea from the threat of North Korean communist forces, to eradicate the despicable pro-North Korean anti-state forces that are plundering the freedom and happiness of our people, and to protect the free constitutional order,” he said.
