Yup, truly a national shame

But it's not just the church that deserves flak the federal government deserves its fair share as well.

For ripping over 150,000 native children from their families with no justification for doing so.

For fully endorsing the cultural genocide practiced at the residential schools.

For ignoring countless accounts of physical and sexual abuse and general neglect suffered by the children.

Without christian religious influence I'm not convinced that the attempt to eliminate would have been as disturbingly profound.
