RE: Noteworthy News
Mary Sue - you' re like a fart in an AC/DC concert.

You know it's there but you can' t hear it at all....

...

Maybe that' s not the best metaphor - but couple it with the smell and it' s pretty close...

I can be made to change my thoughts. Have several times.

Whatcha got?

Look at it on a different scale, as a hypothetical:

Situation A: You see a man sexually abusing a toddler. You bash him in the head with a brick to make him stop.

Situation B: You see a man with a REALLY cool jacket. You bash him in the head with a brick so you can take it.

In both situations, the behaviours taken by you are identical - bashing a man in the head with a brick. Only the intentions are different - stopping the rape of a child and stealing a jacket that you really want.

Are both behaviours bad?

Boru

Considering you will probably do prison time for both 1. vigilantism and 2. Assault - yes I would have to say both are bad.

In some areas you would likely do equal amounts of time.

But that’s the consequence of the behaviour, not the behaviour itself (and I have serious doubts as to whether a conviction in Situation A could be obtained).

In other words, you dodged the question.

Not at all.

Your behavior isn' t yours to judge. Justice doesn' t occur in a vacuum.

You can only call it good if you don't get caught.

Society says otherwise.

Nope, But you are like a fart at an art gallery loud and reeking of shit and full of hot air. I'm like the music at an ACDC concert everyone can hear me except those who are totally deaf like you  Hehe

Pretty much and despite Boru's attempt to fill that void with non-fallacious arguments. Alas the void of irrationality is bottomless  Hehe

You’re conflating good/bad with legal/illegal. I didn’t ask if the situations posed were legal or not.

I've found that many people don't want an honest conversation or discussion. Apparently their life is just devoid of connection and somehow triggering strangers is their form of sexual satisfaction. That's evident when people do things like OLB does. Nothing he says is really honest and he knows this. No one could be this obtuse. He's just laughing because he gets a reaction. Best to just ignore him.

Stuff it.

The only time you see anyone as honest is if they agree with your half baked bullshit.

What do you think we base legality and illegality upon if not the concepts of good and evil?

But - let us then assume for the sake of your arguement that using wonton violence can be "good" how do you apply it here?

And no fair pronouncing one politically motivated act as " good".

The jury is and always will be out on that score....

I’m happy to agree that the concepts of legality are based on the concepts of moral good and evil, but that doesn’t by any means ensure that that which is legal will always be good. This is why the law makes exceptions for the circumstances in which otherwise illegal actions will not be punished. For example, if you were to shoot someone for shits and giggles, the law will punish you. However, if you shoot someone as a means of defending yourself or others, the law will consider the circumstances.

I’ve never been attacked by a dumpling, so I’ll assume you meant ‘wanton’ violence. This generally refers to violence that is unprovoked or done without reason. We aren’t talking about wanton violence, but violence done with a specific purpose in mind.

What jury where?

Yeah my spell check is and always is off - and the print on my phone screen is about 1 mm - so a mistake does get through occasionally.

In your original scenario - using a brick to stove in someone' s skull to force them to quit abusing a kid certainly seems severe - if not simply messy and distasteful. Of course your scenario is not well enough detailed to provide an actual answer.

Let' s clean it up. Supposing it was the ONLY avenue open to you ( unlikely as that is - it would be a dedicated kiddie diddler who would keep at abusing a kid once found by an objecting adult) to prevent harm to the kid - then it would be JUSTIFIABLE. Good? No - still bad. I don' t think it would be good for a kid to go through the trama of seeing ANYONE'S head caved in with a brick. While not a brick - I did once see a co- worker head stoved in by a wrench he was using on a 20 ton punch press trying to jog it - and he tripped the engagement - spinning the 3 foot long wrench at about 200 rpm.... It wasn' t pretty - and unsuitable for younger viewers...

So recap - let' s not confuse good with justifiable.

Fair enough?
