I'm actually referring to what we call 'Bikies'. Here in SA, several of the clubs were declared criminal organisations. These chaps are very bit as nasty as anything in the US. That law was actually thrown out of court for being unconstitutional.
Years ago, we had a police section called "The Consorting Squad". Nothing to do with prostitution, it was their task to stop convicted criminals from consorting with non criminals.

The whole trope of prisoners being subjected to sexual depredation as "deserved" is beyond disgusting. The biker trope is in the same genre. Not every guy who rides a Harley (for example) is a sexual predator, even if he does end up in prison. I match 2 of 3 for that. I rode a Harley, been in the brig (not even close to jail, though- it's more like boot camp), but have never sexually assaulted anyone, or been sexually assaulted. It's just disgusting how many people see where someone is going to prison and reveling in the potential violation of that prisoner by "fellow" inmates.

Was the Gabby Petito case talked about much here? I was super invested in it from the beginning. Was upset when Brian was reported missing because I immediately assumed he had killed himself and would never face justice and bring closure to Gabby's family. Sad story for sure.
