RE: Noteworthy News
IDK. Cancer is always treatment, we're never really cured of cancer, because to animals like us cancer is a feature, not a bug. No human being is ever in anything other than remission..which may last their entire life, but only because they died before cancer inevitably returned.

I've got a family member in a position where it's pretty clear medication for one of his conditions has caused or contributed to him being diagnosed with cancer (to the point that there's a lay down class action case over the drug)....but, otoh, now, every treatment that might help with the cancer, no promises..is well known to exacerbate the condition for which he took the drugs that contributed to that cancer. Effectively, he's being asked precisely how he wants to die. Column a, or column b.

Medicine cant create a new reality whole cloth no matter how much or where we dump our cash.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. unfortunately we don't really have systems set up to incentivize cures. We have systems that make billions off of continuing care and medication. I still think we could cure cancer and aids if there wasn't any money in treatments.

That’s clearly a downside for you lot. Once you cave to the insidious evils of socialized medicine, things will get better.

When I was diagnosed, I was presented with two regimens of chemo. This was after being told, after having my chest surgically removed, that if this and that came back negative I wouldn't have to do chemo at all...when this, that, and the other thing came back negative I was pronounced as having Triple Negative Breast Cancer and my only hope of survival past three years was either behind door number 1 or door number 2.

Door number one - This has a high probability of damaging your heart

Door number two - This has a high probability of giving you leukemia.

Ummm...no door three, huh?

New oncologist says that if chemo causes leukemia you are just fucked. That can't fix leukemia that they caused with chemo by using other chemo.

I opted for none of the above except the surgery.

That was 2009.

I am convinced it's a crapshoot.

To an extent, I think so too. All of it, imo, based on the idea that there is no such thing as a biological reality. That all of this, every facet of life, is negotiable. That we can unilaterally decide to fix a or b, and this will be of no consequence to c. I get the yearning, I don't understand the expectation. I know that I will either die of cancer, or some horribly violent accident. Solving my cancer problem makes the accident inevitable. Solving the accident problem makes cancer inevitable.

No free lunches.

Yeah...I had a major heart attack five years ago anyway...that I can't blame on chemo. Leukemia may be right around the corner. Wouldn't surprise me a bit.

New chancellor of Germany omits "so help me god" in oath of office. He's also the first religiously non-affiliated chancellor.

Quote:So far, the only pre-swearing-in ripples in the German press has been the fact that Scholz will omit the final line of the traditional oath: "... so help me God." But he had already done so during his oaths as finance minister and mayor of Hamburg, so it's not a real issue.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Isnt it quite some irony that in Germany, whose constitution is clearly non-secular, the chancellor can be sworn in secularly, while in the US, with a secular constitution its unthinkable the president will be sworn in secularly?

On a sidenote: There was this awkward moment at the swearing in (the end), when there was a second of silence instead of the usual religious proclamation.

BLM Los Angeles co-founder calls Jussie Smollett trial a white supremacist charade. Says to never believe the police over a black man. This BLM leader sounds like he's suffering from the same psychosis Colin Kaepernick is. "No dignity left intact" because you had to get your vertical measured by the scary white man, eh Cap? You've got a bunch of seriously mentally ill people running your movement. Not good.

It’s truly crazy that she would refer to white supremacy as a ‘charade’.

That's your take away from this? Your problem is with the word charade rather than leaders of your favourite organization, BLM, being completely ok with fake hate crimes? People on tv laughing at BLM supporter and activist Kyrie Irving for being a flat earther is a white supremacist charade as well, don't cha know? Respect and believe the black man's experience on this flat earth we're living on.

Like I said before, team sports. Even supporting fake hate crimes is not enough to get you to criticize your own side, even a little. You just can't bring yourself to do it. And of course you would be cool with little black children being taught that getting their vertical measured in a football tryout is like slavery, and being told that someone like Jussie Smollett is a noble man. Great to be teaching this to the kids. This definitely won't warp their view of reality at all and possibly drag these kids into the same psychosis these poor adults are experiencing.
