Well, here again, they do seem to exist, and they certainly seem to exist to themselves. That's what you'd be arguing over, arguing their mere existence.... at this point...with them.

Doesn't that seem like an absurd premise for a rational disagreement?

Not at all. I am no more convinced someone can be nonbinary than an individual can be the messiah. It's a personal, subjective perception the individual possesses, certainly, but not realistic.

They're telling you that they don't conform to a particular gender system..but that shouldn't seem impossible to you or anyone else. You don't conform to theirs, either.

So, interestingly, a boy who feels like a girl or a girl who feels like a boy - I mean, I'm gonna give em boy or girl, no questions asked. They're still binary. In that sense, they see these things closer to the way you do or, broadly, how society does, than to a non binary person. They are not just those two things, they are not one or the other specifically. Our culture makes claims of gender that are not, in their experience, true of themselves.

Now that the fun-time interlude is over, let us get back to serious business.

For those who want to consider the ill logic of sex is not gender, then take a look at the definition of binary.

If sex is not gender, then what are the two variables involved in the binary system that makes it a repulsive concept to nonbinary individuals?

That is how you see things, and that way of seeing things is exactly what they're telling you they don't conform to, that they don't see, and don't see in themselves. I don't think that it's a genuinely arguable position. May as well argue that their own name isn't what they think it is.

Maybe I'm not human. Doesn't make it so just because I can conceptualize myself as a werewolf.

They're not telling you that they're werewolves. It's a bit more mundane than all that. That they are humans who don't feel about gender the way that you feel about gender. Who do not see what you see, when apprehending gender.

Be that as it may, the comparative argument stands on the foundation of its logic.
