Nope didn't become a proper university till centuries later. It was only a "center of learning" the Ancient Greeks and Romans and Persians had "centers of learning" too but they are not universities either at least not in the modern sense. So again contributes nothing unique to civilization.

Your civilization prefers this version of things because it brings "fast and huge revenue"; but they never learn that after the fast revenue a huge depression comes.

Take the example of the interest-based bank system: for short years it brought the victors in WW2 huge revenues; now the depression started and old commodities became obsolete.
