Atheist logic and theist logic are very different from each other. You can't even say they're two sides of the same coin, they're different coins altogether.

Do you have an example?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That's because theistic logic isn't logic at all.

Oh, it's logic. Just not the kind of logic you value.

The axiom, or what could be considered an axiom, "Religion makes people happy, more often than not", makes perfect sense to a theist, but to an atheist, it's simply an illogical, problematic statement.

Isn't it strange, especially in this conversation, to assume that? Do you have an example - you might find that the people here agree with your valuations of many things.

If you agree that religion makes people happy, more often than not, how come you aren't religious?

Probably for the same reason that alcohol makes people happy but that doesn't mean he wants to become an alcoholic.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Ahriman you seem to have a lot to say - you should start podcasting.

Alcohol is a depressant. It does not make people happy.

Sorry to stick an oar in.

But... isn't that a bit of fallacious thinking?

"You're a human. Other humans are happy with religion. Why aren't you, as also a human, not religious if you're happy?"

I mean for me the religious side of things was boring as paint drying. It wasn't/hasn't helped me learn anything 'New' about the world at large.

Now, if you're talking about the social structures and events that aggregate around the setting that is 'The Church' then, yeah they can obviously be of benefit to people. However, as others have pointed out before those social things aren't the religion as such.

Cheers.
